Mughal-E-Azam

"Mughal-e-Azam" is a timeless Bollywood classic that tells the story of the Mughal prince Salim (played by Dilip Kumar) and his love for a courtesan named Anarkali (played by Madhubala). The film is set in the 16th century during the reign of Emperor Akbar (played by Prithviraj Kapoor).

Salim and Anarkali's love is forbidden, as she is not of royal blood and Akbar wants Salim to marry a princess to secure the Mughal dynasty's future. However, Salim rebels against his father's wishes and continues to see Anarkali, even going so far as to declare war against his own father.

The film is known for its grand sets, opulent costumes, and memorable songs, including "Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya" and "Teri Mehfil Mein Qismat Azma Kar."

Despite the film's initial production difficulties and delays, "Mughal-e-Azam" went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time and is considered a classic of Indian cinema. Its enduring popularity can be attributed to its timeless story of love and sacrifice, as well as its stunning visuals and memorable soundtrack.
