Maine Pyar Kiya one of the biggest hits of the 80s decade which released alongside two big films Aag Ka Gola and Jurrat on 29th December 1989 both having bankable stars’ both the films flopped and Maine Pyar Kiya emerged out to be a winner.
The film also launched careers of many from Salman Khan, Bhageshree, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Aloknath, Rajiv Verma and Laxmikanth Berde.
Laxmikanth Berde was a superstar in Marathi cinema when he signed his debut film Maine Pyar Kiya Salman Khan was playing his first lead role apart from his extended cameo in debut film Biwi Ho Toh Aisi (1988).
Laxmikanth Berde noticed on the sets that Salman Khan is avoiding him completely and does not talk to him. The day they had a scene together he went to Salman Khan and asked him why are you avoiding me and told him that if we don’t talk to each other we won’t be able to do the scenes properly.
Salman Khan reasoned him by saying that people told me you are a big star of Marathi films and its bit difficult to work with you as you make last minute changes to the scenes. Hence i was not comfortable with you and started avoiding.
Laxmikanth Berde told Salman Khan that forget what people say we both have to work together and be comfortable for that we have to interact with each other of screen so that our chemistry becomes perfect on screen. In our Marathi industry we do the same and interact with our cos tars of screen. This makes us easy to shoot for a particular scene we are doing together.
Salamn Khan took this advice and started interacting with Laxmikanth Berde and both became good friends. Their onscreen chemistry was loved by everyone. In coming years they worked in many films like Saajan (1991), Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun (1994), Jaanam Samja Karo (1999) and Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam (2002).
Moreover Salman Khan once remembering Laxmikanth Berde in a musical show stated that thou he was the films hero but Lakshya  was the reason for the films success.

The music of the film was a big hit. Lag Ja Gale and Naina Barse became all time classics and played even today by many on their cellphones, there was a time when the haunting tune of Naina Barse had no takers for twelve years. Madan Mohan had composed the song in 1952 but no filmmaker wanted to use the tune as they were not finding a haunting situation in their film where the song would work.  'Who Kaun Thi' was made on a complete different note much ahead of her times where every five minutes there would be a haunting situation in the film. Sadhna and Raj Khosla were looking for a haunting tune for the film and came across the tune. Madan Mohan then decided to u
