But the film was overshadowed by supporting character was Sunny Deol. After grand success of Ghayal (1990) Sunny Deol became a big star and Rajkumar Santoshi was planning another film with him in lead Ghatak (1996) . But before that he wanted to make Damini and signed Meenakshi Sheshadri and Rishi Kapoor to play the leads. Film revolves around a small town girl Damini who gets married to a rich Shekar and tries to adjust her life. But on the day of Holi she witnesses. Shekar’s younger brother and his friends raping their maid and testifies against them against wishes of her family. The powerful connections of family lead her to asylum. The film also launched careers of many from Salman Khan, Bhageshree, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Aloknath, Rajiv Verma and Laxmikanth Berde. Laxmikanth Berde was a superstar in Marathi cinema when he signed his debut film Maine Pyar Kiya Salman Khan was playing his first lead role apart from his extended cameo in debut film Biwi Ho Toh Aisi (1988) . Laxmikanth Berde noticed on the sets that Salman Khan is avoiding him completely and does not talk to him. The day they had a scene together he went to Salman Khan and asked him why are you avoiding me and told him that if we don’t talk to each other we won’t be able to do the scenes properly.
